  • How to target the right audience and write to their felt needs so that your message makes an impact

  • Finding the right topic and genre the will help say what you need to say in the most effective way it needs to be said

At the end of the coaching sessions and upon your completing your manuscript, I will personally provide the substantive edit to give your book a glossy finish.

Let’s unlock that finisher’s spirit and get your book into the hands of the people who need it most!

Substantive/Content Editing

The next step after the manuscript has been written, the content or substantive edit focuses on the big picture, the overall purpose and promise of the book by clarifying ambiguities, correcting conceptual problems, and maintaining the tone of the manuscript. A content edit:

  • Identifies problems with overall clarity or accuracy

  • Evaluates the order in which the text is presented and recommends ways to reorganize

  • Identifies gaps in content

  • Analyzes sentences for structure/syntax

  • Suggests or provides clearer explanations, anecdotes, analogies, or illustrations

  • Proposes additions or deletions of headings

  • Seeks to achieve clarity of subject, logic, and consistency

Completed in six to twelve weeks, I, or an esteemed member of my freelance editorial team, will provide this service to you.

From $1,650

Book Doctoring

So you’ve written a book—kind of. You have something, ahem, that you poured over as much as you could and it is just not feeling as sharp as you hoped it would. You know the diamond is hidden in the rough there somewhere, but you just aren’t able to mine it. Book doctoring may be just what you need.

I will take your “manuscript,” evaluate it, develop a new outline and direction for it, and pulling from my fifteen years of industry knowledge, will give it the right edge it needs to stand out among other books in its category. Then, upon your approval, I will take to the task of doing all the writing and reorganizing based on the plans we’ve set together to reshape, refocus, lengthen, or reduce your completed manuscript.

From $4,000

Manuscript Critique

A manuscript critique is a broad overall assessment/review of a manuscript, pinpointing its strengths and weaknesses. Specific problem areas are flagged and general suggestions for improvement made. A professional opinion of the manuscript’s potential for acceptance by an agent and/or royalty-paying publisher, based solely on the focus of the material, may be given if offered/requested.

Copyediting

  • Making sure material is logical and understandable

  • Correcting continuity problems

  • Making sure sources are cited for all statistics and quotations.

  • Flagging inaccuracies and inconsistencies

A moderate copyedit would include a review of the manuscript for such things as:

  • Redundancies

  • Sentence clarity

  • Word choice

  • Maintenance of tone/voice

An in-depth copyedit could also include:

  • A review for consistency of style and mood or presentation of content

  • Analysis of the point of view chosen for each scene (fiction)

  • Cross-checking references, figures, tables, equations, etc. (nonfiction)

  • Pointing out items that may require permission from the copyright holder

How Our Publishing Services Work

Distribution Through IngramSpark

Your print book will “automatically made available to more than tens of thousands of retailers, libraries, schools, e-commerce companies, and other channel partners, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Chapters/Indigo (Canada), and other well-known book retailers and wholesalers across North America” and to outlets in other English-speaking countries such as United Kingdom/Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Your ebook will be available through “the 25+ retailers”—such as Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble Nook—"who provide the most value to independent publishers.”

Royalties Administration and Inventory Management Through IngramSpark

Your royalty payments and inventory will be managed directly through IngramSpark. They will print and ship on demand book purchases made through online retailers. They will then disburse your author/publisher compensation 90 days after the end of the month in which sales occur. The royalty rate is determined by several factors—book specifications, price, wholesale discounts, and the market in which it is sold.

You will have to manage your own inventory if you wish to have your book available for sale on your website or at events. IngramSpark will ship your book to you almost anywhere in the world, and they have great expedited printing and shipping options in case you have an event pop up with little advance notice.

Literary Representation

Using my fifteen-plus years in the publishing industry as an anchor, I support well-established authors and help them find their place in the market. Offering direct publishing career guidance, I serve as a literary agent who will work toward securing the best and most profitable deals for my authors. Capturing and honing that “it” book concept, assisting with the development of an outstanding book proposal, presenting and placing my authors with the right publishers, negotiating contracts, and liaising between the author and their publisher for the life of the relationship are how I serve my authors best.

Let me introduce you to my growing family of authors I currently represent.

Submit a Query for Representation

I am currently accepting book proposals from established authors or influencers who are seeking traditional publishing partnerships and writing nonfiction. I will also give some consideration for some fiction and children’s books. My main interests are Christian living, spiritual growth, spiritual warfare/deliverance, marriage and family, Christian and Spirit-filled women’s topics, and some topics in natural and mental health and wellness.

If your book fits within these categories and you would like to be considered for representation, please click the “Submit a Query” button below and fill in the submission form. Once you’ve sent in your information, please allow me eight weeks to review it. If I find I am able to find a home for you and your book, I will be in touch within those eight weeks to request 1-3 sample chapters.

If you have not heard from me after twelve weeks, please know that I am not able to represent you at this time.

I wish you all the best in finding the right representation and publishing home for your book.
